To catch a thief

Now here's an interesting idea that came to mind!

What better way to catch a jewel thief than to place the most precious and most valuable object in the middle of the museum with very little security except for a red, velvet rope that says, "DO NOT TOUCH!!!". Our thief disregards the sign and proceeds to cross over it anyway, only that she is now ankle-deep in the carpet placed underneath the exhibit. But this isn't any ordinary carpet, as this one is actually a synthetic quicksand based trap.

Now how's THAT for security, huh
