Oh, well my real name is Penelope Amelia Ramirez. But I usually just go by Penny for short.
I just go by the name Plastic Penny. I know, it’s not the most original name, especially since it does include my name in the title. But seeing as how I just go as Penny it doesn’t really include my actual name. Plus the name just clicked with me, hehe.
Human…well… it was human. That was after that “incident” that happened to me years ago that have made me into the woman and superheroine that I am today. So I guess you could put me down for superhuman then.
Sorry, that’s certainly something that I don’t go around telling everyone. I hope that you can understand.
Of course my main gig at the time, and even sometimes now, is being the superheroine of my hometown of Clover City. But currently I work for a catering business.
Right now I’m living with my husband and daughter in Clover City. Lately the city has been very peaceful even after the incidents that have the city years ago. But lately there has been some activity popping up by some gang going around causing havoc in the city. I’m just hoping that my daughter, Ella, doesn’t gee too caught up in this. She does have the tendency to get caught up in these sorts of things.
My close friend, Natalie. We’ve been friends ever since Middle School. She’s even been by my side ever since I got my powers that day. Of course, she did try to talk me out of trying to do the whole superhero thing, but I guess I wore here down and she decided to support me in my decision. We still see each other from time to time, and even then she still goes on about my superhero career. (Sigh) I suppose some things don’t change over time, hehe. Of course I’ve also met a couple other superheroes in the city as well (I think they said they are from some group call Sentry or something).
Okay, I’ll try to keep it as brief as I can (*giggles*). Well as I mentioned before, I got my powers by accident. I was around the time when I was in high school. Me and my friend, Natalie were walking through town one afternoon when all of a sudden we hear a commotion going on at the bank. Apparently some crazed robber wearing this weird hazmat suit came busting out of the bank carrying around this large ray-like device.
I didn’t know that it was until after he shot a blast from it. Turns out it can make any solid object turn into to rubber putty. My and Nat went to take cover, but as he came closer to where we were hiding I saw that he was taking aim at someone who fell trying to get out of the way. I knew I couldn’t just stand be and let him get hit, so sure enough I leapt into action and tried to knock the ray out of that hazmat-wearing goon before he could get a shot off. I knocked it away, but the trigger was pulled luckily missing the target. It did, however ricocheted off one of the windows…and unfortunately back to me, turning my whole body into what felt like plastic.
Now, this is the crazy part. Hours later after being sent to the hospital…my entire body just managed to formed back into regular shape. However I was not completely cured of the effects as me whole body did feel a little weird, mostly due to the fact that I can stretch it out to unusual lengths. The weird part about all this is that I was somehow one of the rare cases of individuals who got hit by this ray without the need of the cure to turn my body back to normal. Apparently these individuals were actually volunteers for this medical experiment that went horribly wrong and also turned their bodies into plastic too. However they couldn’t change back like I could, but they were still cured afterwards.
Long story short, or rather it’s too late at this point hahaha, I thought I could use my newly obtained powers to help people, well, have a better outcome unlike last time. But most importantly, I wanted to stop that person who was robbing the bank and using that ray. I knew that there was a connection between that ray and the other patients. And it wouldn’t be long before I knew who was behind all of this, and who would later on become my arch nemesis even after all these years.
Well for the most part I am a very caring person, but in certain aspects as well. Some people see me as being a bit strict and sometimes a little overbearing (you can ask my daughter the same thing, hehehe). But that’s not to say that I’m mean all the time. Even where I work, sometimes you have to be a little tough. Not because I want to be, but because I want to be sure that everyone is doing their job without coming down hard on them. I care about the people that I work with.
The same thing can be said with Ella. But that is mostly out of motherly love. She can be a handful sometimes. She can be a bit impulsive sometimes that it can be difficult to get through to her. I just want to be sure that she is safe and that she is careful, especially against the likes of Roberta Langley. A mother has to watch out for her children after all.
I do like to cook. Food has always been an important thing family since it brings us all together. I’m always looking to bring out the best in others. It’s the slackers and troublemakers that give me the most grief.
Beliefs and goals:
It’s something that I tell my daughter all the time; the best way to enjoy life it to find something that brings you joy, find something that makes you happy. And wouldn’t you know it, the one thing that brings her happiness is to be a hero like me!
Well as I mentioned in one of the previous questions, I can be a bit passive-aggressive sometimes. But that’s mostly out of care. Cooking an authentic, homemade meal has always been a passion of mine. What’s funny though is that when it comes to being a superheroine I can sometimes be mistaken for my daughter, seeing as we share the same fashion sense (*giggles*). I guess she really does look up to me as a rolemodel.
The skills that I’ve learned are mostly self-taught. I didn’t really have anyone to help teach me how to use my powers other than my friend at the time. I did get a little help from a couple local superheroes in my area later on.
The power of elasticity, of course! Stretching, bending, twisting, morphing; you name it I can do it…well almost everything, hehe.
Source of powers:
As I mentioned before in my brief, long-winded explanation, I got my powers be accident from that “elastic ray”
What any elastic superheroine, like my daughter and myself are weak too. Heat, freezing cold temperature, getting tied or twisted. Just to name a few. Though I know that Ella seems to go on about being stuck in a taffy-pulling machine a few times. I’m not sure how that keeps happening.
